Jim Combs

My name is Jim Combs and I am 38 years old and have been delivered from the bondages of sin and addiction through the healing power of Jesus Christ.  I am proud to say that I am a graduate of the Genesis Ministries Program and have been clean for almost three years now.  At Genesis Ministries I learned the tools to live this victorious life and make the choice everyday to live for Christ and not my flesh.

I had lost everything as a result from a slow and painful road towards death that started over twenty years ago.  I sacrificed my money, relationships, and my life for my addictions.  My life was a constant downward spiral of sin and addiction that was rapidly leading to death.            

Two days before I came into Genesis Ministries I called my dad to wish him happy birthday and that I was going to kill myself.  My life had gotten completely out of control due to my addictions.  I was living in a fantasy world and used alcohol and drugs to anesthetize the pain I was feeling inside.  I hated myself.

But the Good Lord has a purpose for us all and I thank and praise God everyday for allowing me to live through those painful experiences.  By His grace I was led to Genesis Ministries and I can now honestly say that I have been delivered from my addictions and that I am a new creation as 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “So that if any one is in Christ, that one is a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”  I also know that my past is in the past and it no longer holds me in its bondage.  I now only remember what He has brought me through so I may use it to glorify Him and point others to Jesus Christ.
