Chad Culbreth

My name is Chad Culbreth.  I am 26 years old and I live in Rome, GA.  Before I went into Genesis Ministries, I was living in the pits of hell holding Satan’s hand.  I was lying, stealing and doing things that the “real” me would have never done just to get drugs.  My life had spiraled down and I was standing on my “rock bottom.” I lost the great job that I went to college for, I lost the beautiful 2001 Nissan Pathfinder that I worked so hard to pay for, my best friends and family were distant to me because of what I had become.  I did whatever it took to get my TEMPORARY escape from the pain that I felt

About a week before entering Genesis, I was drug tested at my job.  Of course, I failed the test for more than one drug and lost the job.  That sent me into very deep anxiety and depression so, of course, I went to escape it.  I ingested a large amount of GHB that sent me to the hospital.  The local hospital sent me to a state drug hospital because they were afraid that I was going to die from the large amount that I ingested.  Luckily, I made it through the night and after I stayed at the facility for a couple of days, I went to Genesis.

The day that I went into Genesis, I was scared, mad, and happy all at the same time.  Within 10 minutes of talking to Eli and Susan, I knew that everything was going to be great.  I worked my program like my life depended on it because…IT DID.  I had my good days and my bad days but nevertheless, my life was being changed through God and his healing power.  I ended up staying for two extra years on staff at the ministry as the assistant director because I felt that I needed more time and that I wanted to give back where I received my healing.  I thank God everyday for Eli and Susan and how they have let God use them to give men the healing that they need.

That great job that I lost because of my drug use is now my career.  I am an IT manager/networking specialist at Vend Service, Inc. in Rome, GA.  I am also a cheerleading coach at an all star cheer gym here in Rome.  I am here as the testimony to anyone who wants to hear that when God rewards you, it is in abundance.  I could never be happier now that I am clean.  Life still has its ups and downs but I now know how to deal with them.  “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me” Philippians 4:13
